Radiotherapy

History of department
The department of Radiation Oncology was established at the Cama & Albless Hospital, Mumbai in June 2001. It is the only state government hospital of Government of Maharashtra having Cancer dedicated treatment for women and children. Initially the department was equipped with teletherapy cobalt machine (Theratron-780E) and HDR Brachytherapy (Micro-selectron) and treatment planning X-ray Simulator. From May 2013 the department was upgraded with highly advanced Linear Accelerator Radiotherapy machine (Trilogy) and radiation treatment planning machine CT simulator (3D images).

In the department, both cancer directed treatment like radiotherapy and chemotherapy are available under PMJAY. Currently department has equipped with new indigenous radiotherapy machine named Siddharth-II Iconic Plus from Panacea Medical Technology and CT simulator (GE healthcare). Till date 163000+ radiation fractions have been delivered using above radiotherapy facilities.

Vision / Mission statement:- to provide expert care by utilizing state of the art technology with maintaining the respect and dignity of every patient for shaping the future of oncology.

New services started:-

  • Palliative care services by department with dedicated palliative care patient beds in cancer ward.
  • On Radiotherapy machine Siddharth- II Iconic Plus started treatment from June 25th 2025.
  • A symposium organization by department on the occasion of world cancer day. 4th and 5th Feb 2026.

Special OPD days and timings: radiotherapy planning days:- every Tuesday and Thursday , time 11 to 2pm
