The Department of Pharmacology at Government Medical College, GT Hospital & Cama Hospital, Mumbai is responsible for teaching pharmacology to undergraduate medical students as part of the Second Professional MBBS curriculum. The department provides training in the scientific basis of drug therapy, including pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, clinical use of medicines, adverse drug reactions, and rational prescribing practices relevant to patient care.
In addition to undergraduate teaching, the department actively participates in clinical pharmacology activities such as adverse drug reaction monitoring, academic research, and continuing medical education programs. The department also coordinates pharmacovigilance activities and contributes to promoting safe and rational use of medicines.
The department conducts the Certificate Course in Modern Pharmacology (CCMP) for practicing medical professionals, aimed at updating their knowledge of rational drug therapy and recent advances in pharmacology.
